Tanguy Pichon co-creates Anatomy of an Idea with director Vincent Bossel for the Xiaomi Imagery Awards in 2024, a competition challenging filmmakers to shoot an entire short film on a smartphone. Refusing to settle for a simple Instagram reel, they build a kitsch, vibrant set nearly 10 metres wide, inspired by Hollywood cinema, and push the lighting to its absolute limits. Shot on a Xiaomi 13 Pro in log format for maximum control over the grade, the film proves that with the right lighting conditions, a smartphone can deliver a genuinely cinematic image.
